Stop Snoozing

I never realized that snoozing for a few more minutes after waking up doesn't really help you get energized and ward off morning sluggishness until I've read it in Health. I've always thought that those extra shut-eyes are really helpful because you get to sleep for some more. It turns out that it'll only make you feel more sleepy. The author suggests to set your clock for the time you really have to wake up instead of hitting snooze.

I think I will have to agree... snoozing makes people more tired and more sleepy! I have experienced that. But then, it really was so good to snooze off and catch more sleep, right?

I've never been able to hit the snooze button and get any kind of rest. I spend the entire time waiting for the alarm to go off again.

I might as well just get up. :-)

I hit the snooze at least 3 times, and not for more sleep, but mainly because I really don't want to get up.

I agree. Hitting the snooze just ends up creating a lot of anxiety for me. I worry too much about being late for whatever I set the alarm for.

I don't have an alarm to hit the snooze on. Early in my relationhship with hubby he would be the one to get up when the alarm went off so I could get more sleep. Now I see why I'm so tired. The extra sleep is making more tired. Good to know! Now if I could get Hubby to stop turning the alarm off and letting me sleep in....

Is there some sort of clock that can wake you up gently, slowly -- without starting your day with a nerve-rattling freak-out?

I used to have a rooster alarm clock. I think my husband disabled it, honestly... but that was always my favorite. The only side effect was when I traveled to the Philippines, where roosters are everywhere & crow ALL NIGHT LONG, so I was contantly snapping wide awake at all hours of the night, OL>
