Keep the dip warm

Dips are always best served warm, but if you don't have a hot plate handy, try this simple tip: Pour the dip into a stoneware bowl and place on a heating pad or electric blanket set to high. It's steady warmth will gradually get soaked up by the stoneware. That will keep the dip warm all through out your party and it will save you a lot of time and effort from dashing to and from the microwave.

I learned that trick from Alton Brown, my fantasy husband (seriously--he's cute, funny, and HE CAN COOK!)

Also a great way to make yogurt without the machine.
