Enjoy Better Meat

We all know that eating meat often can be bad to our health, but there's no need to give it up.  You can make your meat better by adding rosemary and other herbs to your meat.  Herbs added to meat cooked at high temperatures reduce the formation of suspected carcinogenic compounds by as much as 70 percent, experts say.

EVOO's (extra virgin olive oil) antioxidants have also been found to help fend off cancer-promoting compounds.  Marinating meat (steak and chicken) in an antioxidant-rich spice and wine has been shown to be a very effective method of reducing the "bad" compounds.

A New Fridge

My Mil won the major prize in a raffle.  She attended the 2oth anniversary of her bestfriend's company and there were food, entertainment, games and a raffle.  She went home last night with a brand new fridge.  She likes that it has a water dispenser on the door.  I reminded her that the filter should be changed at least every six months to be sure that the water they are drinking is always clean.  I also gave her the site where I buy wholesale water filter. She'll save more than if she buys just one filter at a time.  Congrats ma!  Enjoy your new fridge.

Be Happy In An Instant

Feeling sad?  Try this little trick to lift your mood.  Stretch, massage and wriggle the fingers of your right hand.  The actions activate brain-wave activity in the left brain, signaling the nervous system to produce mood-boosting serotonine and dopamine.  It also reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol, resulting in better moods and less anxiety in as little as 5 minutes.

Easy Shopping with Furniture Retail Software

Online shopping has become so convenient that more and more people prefer to buy their stuff there.  Business owners are finding more ways to make shopping easier for us, consumers.  I was helping my brother shop for furniture for his newly purchased home.  We found one website where he found everything he needed for his living room.  I liked that we didn't have a hard time during the whole process.  It was easy to choose the furniture  and we didn't have troubles with check out and payment.  The site's furniture retail software was so easy to use.  I'm loving the leaps in technology.  It may not be too long and all business on the  web will have their own software.  That'll make shopping really easy and fun.

Never Miss A Show Again

My husband loves watching sports, whose isn't anyway? Lol.  He's an avid F1 and bowling fan, but with his hectic schedule, he couldn't stay glued on the tube to watch all the races and all the bowling events.   Although I don't always like watching sports (I only like to watch the bowling matches), I pity him if he misses a race.   So sometimes I stay up late to record the race for him.  Well I was relieved that his friend discovered Fathom Events and told my husband about it.  At least now I don't have to go to the trouble of staying up late or recording the matches that he missed. Thanks to Fathom, who, offers exclusive digital cinema events using high-definition via satellite to audiences around the globe. Wouldn't you love watching concerts, performing arts, comedy, sports,  and other live acts on big screens with high-definition picture and big-time surround sound?

Hubs and I spend weekends catching up with our favorite shows, we sometimes buy Met opera HD tickets if we already had too much of sports and comedy tickets if the kids feel like going with us. If you are  a very busy person and you miss some of your favorite shows, try the ticket offers at Fathom. You can score tickets at a much lower price from them compared to other ticket brokers on the internet.

Las Vegas Movers

After my niece is born on December 25th (she'll be named Nicole, after St. Nicolas), my brother and SIL are planning to renew their vows.  They had a civil wedding 5 years ago and now they want to have a church wedding.  A church wedding with a theme!  He's a great fan of The King, so they will be going to Vegas for the wedding.  I'd love to see the Graceland Wedding Chapel, too.  He says he likes the place so much that he actually wanted to live there.  If not for his job, which pays him really well, he might have hired the las vegas movers instead of moving from NY to Connecticut.  I told him then that he should be in Memphis but he says, he loves the Elvis impersonators in Vegas.  Date has not been set but for sure, it's going to be early next year.

Health Tip #13

A bottle of beer for women and two for men a day  reduces risk of stroke by up to 20 percent.  Surprising isn't it?  Beer can actually do our body good.  It is packed with vitamin B6 and it can help raise good cholesterol and lessen the chances of having blood clots.  Plus, it helps you relax.
When I was younger, my grandpa drank one bottle with his dinner.  I used to wonder why he isn't getting sick if he drinks it every single day.  Now I know why.

Tea Tree Essential Oil

If you are a frequent visitor of my blogs, you probably have read some of my articles on skin care.  I was not blessed with flawless skin and I battled with acne during my teens.  I've been constantly looking for natural ways to beautify skin so my kids won't have to visit the dermatologist very often like I did.  And when it comes to skin care, one of my family's bestfriends is the tea tree oil.  You can find here several articles on tea tree oil uses. It works best for acne and blemishes, in treating lice, warts and fungus.

Weight Loss News and More

Still about my plan on taking the pill, I just found a website that offers advice on finding the best weight loss products.  With so many kinds of diet pills claiming to be the best and most effective, it is hard to find one that really works.  At, you can get the best advice and recommendations. And if you check now, you can even avail of their free e-book on 101 ways to burn calories.  By the way, the site don't just do reviews.  There are a lot of interesting articles -- weight loss, fitness, mind matters, workout, pilates, yoga, childhood obesity and many more.

10 Pounds Heavier

Ever since I have stopped smoking 3 months ago, I have gained 10 pounds.  I am still working out for 30 minutes a day but that doesn't seem to help.  I hate that I want to eat every food in sight!  I am getting desperate in shedding off the pounds. Maybe I should pair my workout exercises with women's weight loss pills. Been thinking about that because my metabolism is very slow, it's so hard to get the excess weight off.  I'll check out some of these pills and see what will work for me.

Comfortable Shoes

You may have the most expensive shoes but that doesn't mean your feet are comfortable.   Sure, you look stylish and sexy with your signature shoes but after a long day, you go home not only with achy feet but with blisters.  Don't let your  precious walkers suffer when you squeeze them into tight, uncomfortable shoes for the sake of fashion.  I would much rather wear womens sandals or comfortable slip-ons than have those hard leather shoes kill me with pain.

When your feet are tired and strained, it shows on your face, you wouldn't want other people to see that.  What really matters is comfort, support, flexibility and fit.  Get shoes that will let you stand up for a long time and walk all day.

Health Tip #12

Keep teeth tip-top with applesauce or apple juice.  New research shows that the juice in apples kills up to 80 percent of plaque- and cavity-causing bacteria.  Add it to your diet and you're sure to have strong and healthy teeth.

Fast Internet Service

You could be spending a lot of money with your present internet provider but does it satisfy your needs? Do you get the speed they promised you would get when you subscribed?  How about the service?  Do they take care of you when you have complaints?  Back here, it's very hard to find a good service that would cater to my needs.  I have switched from one provider to another and have tried everything -- dial up, t3, dsl and cable internet.  I really don't mind paying a little more just as long as I get the speed I want and it's only with the latter that I stayed.
Of course nothing can beat satellite internet, I would have tried it if we have that here.  I heard from my brother that it's really fast and the service is excellent.  When you have faster access to the internet, it will save you more time to justify its cost. This is especially great for those who use the web for their work. And what's great about satellite internet is that the service is available everywhere.  You can free up your phone and surf faster than ever.  Click on the link for more info.

Floss For Your Memory

When you brush, floss and visit the dentist regularly, you not only take care of your teeth but your memory as well.  Here's why.
"In a study of more than 2300 men and women age 60 and over, those who scored the lowest on simple arithmetic and memory tasks - making mistakes similar to patients with early Alzheimer's disease - had gotten the most exposure over the years to a particular gum-disease-causing bacteria."
If you're wondering what's the connection between the two, experts say,our body responds to this pathogen with inflammation, which stiffens blood vessels and raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and memory problems.
Brush and floss regularly so you won't have trouble recalling names, your grocery list, and questions you were asked 5 minutes ago in the future.

Eating Out A Lot

My family and I have been eating out a lot lately.  That's since my brother arrived from the US last week.  Even if I'm eating very little I am still gaining weight, sigh.  And to think I'm also working out!  The downside of being forty, my very slow metabolism is giving me a hard time to lose weight.  :(  But the weight loss drinks I'm going to try might just work.  I heard from a friend that she's taking it and she already lost a few pounds.  I've already ordered for a month's supply and I'm excited to start the new program.

Ever since my brother came home, he has been out most of the time.  His friends missed him a lot and the lunch and dinner invites never seems to stop.  There were days he had to attend 2 dinner invitations.  He's already big when he arrived but now he is 12 pounds bigger.  He says, he's going to need help from dieting pills, which I think is true, once he starts working out again.  He is scheduled to leave for the states tomorrow and it makes all of us sad.  I hope it won;t take another 8 years before we see him again.

Health Tip #11

Want to speed up slimming the natural way?  Then eat asparagus.  The yummy spears are supper filling without the bloat factor.  Asparagus contains inulin, a fiber that improves gastrointestinal health and helps metabolize nutrients to curb hunger.  Plus, the amino acid asparagine also helps flush out fat-storing toxins.  Eat more asparagus and you're on your way to slim.

Stubborn FIL

Some seniors are just so stubborn.  I got a call from my mom-in-law earlier, she told me that FIL won't listen to her.  The doctor has strict instructions that he be not allowed to drive anymore after his heart attack last February.  He's also been showing signs of Dementia and Parkinson's, one moment he clearly remembers everything, then if you ask him after a little while, he has totally forgotten about it. He is not as sharp as he was before and following directions is now a little difficult.
She even hired a part-time driver for him so he'll stop driving.  But what really worries MIL is when he sneaks in his car and drives off to church, to the grocery or sometimes to the barber shop.  He went home with a big dent on his bumper yesterday.  He's lucky  because even if he got a cheap auto insurance, claims are as easy as with pricey comprehensive auto insurance.
We, the children, are also worried because the roads are not as safe as before.  There are so many impatient and reckless drivers out there who won't give a damn whether you are a lady or an elderly.

It's been a pleasure.

My cousin, who also happens to be my bestfriend was recently promoted.  She is now the over-all manager of a popular senior living community in the US.  She is looking for restaurant equipment and supply for their newly renovated banquet hall and dining room.   I  know how busy she is and I'm sure she won't have much time to look for a new supplier (and being a foodie myself, these kind of things really interest me) so I offered  help.  As I was searching online, I chanced upon Tiger Chef.  Gosh, I fell in love with everything and wanted them all for my self! (haha)  How I wished I had lots of money so I could buy everything and have a 'totally new' kitchen.

They have everything from commercial grade products for bars, catering, bakeries, hotels and restaurants. The cookware and equipment are so elegant and surprisingly affordable. Plus, they offer great discounts,  there are no minimum purchase requirements and you pay no inflated ship costs.

I was drooling as I checked each item, I wanted to get my own sets too.  I am keeping my fingers crossed that these amazing discounts are still here when I have the budget for new kitchen equipment  :)
My cousin got most of  the stuff she needed and thanked me for helping her.  Oh, if she only knew how much I enjoyed the website.  :)
