It's not so difficult to get silly putty off your area rugs. The first thing you need to do is to pick off as much as you can. Then apply a small amount of household spray lubricant. Leave it for a couple of minutes, and use a terry washcloth to lift any remaining gunk. Dampen a clean cloth with alcohol and blot area. Then make a solution of dishwashing soap and warm water and sponge on the stained parts. Rinse and air-dry.
