Don't Crouch!

Do you squat when using public restrooms? I do that to avoid contact with toilet seats, and I'm sure many of you do it as well. I recently read that doing so can increase a woman's risk of urinary tract infection because it prevents the bladder from emptying completely. Experts suggest covering the seat with toilet paper or a seat liner. Public toilet seats are the least germy surfaces in office buildings. Telephones and elevator buttons are the most germ-ridden.

Nakakadiri naman kasi, tita. Imagine mo na lang marami ng gumamit na iba before you. Feeling ko kahit maraming tissue paper na nakapatong parang andun pa rin yung dumi hehe
Interesting...Learn something new every day! Thanx...Cathy

Girll... I cannot subject my betty to that kinda stress. chile' betty does not like foreign surfaces getting near her. she will actually refuse to do her thing if stuff looks too deep.

but believe it or now, if I bend and go I'm good. sorry but ms. betty ain't goin for it, without a personally applied seatcover.

and yes we do carry then in a lil pouch in the purse when needed.
usually we try not to need to go when out. on the road, well then we have the necessary precautions, including antibacterial handwipes which we've wiped off seats with before using.

that apparently works well too.

Very interesting Liz..

So I was watching myth busters one day. And they were testing to see how clean toilet seats were. They found out that the toilet seat was actually the cleanest part of the house. And that licking a toilet seat was safer than typing on a keyboard. Gotta love myth busters!

I remember a conversation that I had as a young child when talking to an elderly lady about life when she was a young child. What she told me shocked me at the time. Apparently, it was the fashion then to have long dresses that skimmed the floor. As ladies got older (probably through giving birth to several children when they were younger) they would often get caught short and it was quite commonplace, I am led to believe, that ladies would stand over drain holes that were to be found in the gutters at the side of the road. There they would (covered with their long skirts to aid their modesty) stand and urinate. Standing upright their bladders emptied and they were able to go on their way with no-one except others around the same age being any the wiser.

On the note of spending a penny today - the midwives always told us to pee then count to ten and pee again to prevent infections of the bladder and urinary tract. It is also useful to drink half a pint of warm water first thing in the morning and have a handful of cranberries with your breakfast cereal.

I squat sometimes especially when I am in a hurry. But I make sure my bladder is empty :)

I do crouch! Fortunately at work we have the seat doilies so I don't have to worry there. But, at restaurant, stores or clubs I definitely crouch.

Yeah, I do this almost all the time. But I'm shocked to know that the toilet seats don't have the same amount of germs compared to elevator buttons.
However, cleaning one's hands after touching an elevator button is fairly easier with the use of alcohol. But cleaning one's self after urinating on public toilet is different. It's not that easy. Plus, not all people are aware that they shouldn't mess around public toilets since they aren't the only ones who use it.
